Laser Hair Removal — In Depth

About the GentleMax Pro Technology

At Laser Aesthetics, we use the Candela GentleMax Pro — a leading dual-wavelength medical laser combining Alexandrite (755 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm) technology.

The laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle, converts to heat, and disables the cells that produce new hair — while protecting the surrounding skin. Built-in DCD cooling technology makes treatments comfortable for most clients.

This advanced platform safely treats a wide range of skin types and hair types, on almost every part of the body except the eyebrows.

Typical Treatment Plan & Results

Most clients require 6–8 sessions, spaced approximately every six weeks to align with the natural hair growth cycle.

With a complete series, many clients experience up to 90% long-term hair reduction in treated areas, including:

  • Underarms
  • Bikini & Brazilian
  • Legs
  • Back
  • Face (lip, chin, full face)
  • Arms, chest, and shoulders

Individual results vary depending on hair colour, skin tone, hormonal factors, and the treatment area. Maintenance treatments once or twice per year may be recommended.

Preparing for Your Session
  • Shave the area to be treated before your appointment
  • Do not apply moisturizers or lotions on the day of treatment
  • Avoid direct sun exposure, self-tanners, and tanning beds for 4 weeks prior
  • For darker skin types, a preliminary spot test will be performed
  • Let your nurse know if you have had recent sun exposure — your treatment plan can be adjusted
Post-Treatment Care
  • You may experience slight redness and warmth (like a mild sunburn) — this typically fades within a few hours
  • Resume normal activities immediately
  • Avoid hot tubs, Jacuzzis, saunas, and very hot baths for 24 hours
  • Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen to treated areas
  • Follow the treatment schedule recommended by your nurse (approximately every 6 weeks)
Safety & Who Performs the Treatment

All laser hair removal at Laser Aesthetics is performed exclusively by Registered Nurses with specific training in laser safety and GentleMax Pro technology.

We follow Health Canada guidelines and Ontario infection-control standards. Every client is assessed for skin type, medical history, medications, and sun exposure before treatment begins.

As noted by the Canadian Medical Association, having laser hair removal performed by a qualified medical professional is essential for both safety and results.
